Guidance given: The adviser explained that the shopper would have to remain in the same scheme if he still wanted his employer to contribute, even if that scheme offered a limited number of funds. He then explained how younger clients were put in riskier funds at the beginning as it offered the potential for greater returns and more time to make up losses, and advised the shopper to check the performances and profiles of funds online.4/5

Knowledge: The adviser seemed to be well-versed in pensions, auto-enrolment and investment markets.5/5

I am loving my new life, practising, studying and working as a Yoga teacher. I am just booking my flights to New Zealand for a further 3 week Yoga training intensive in January 2015 with an amazing teacher who I have trained with before here in the UK. 

I really cannot imagine being able to do this without your support with my finances and so wanted to thank you for helping me in such a huge way.  I don’t know what the future will bring, as of course none of us do, but I am able to follow my passion, and for that I am really grateful.

Mystery Shopper – FT Adviser Magazine…

Speed of response: Time of call: 11.03.  Answered by a receptionist after one ring who put the shopper straight through to an adviser. 5/5

Telephone manner: Very professional and friendly. 4/5

Relevant qualifications: The adviser said they were qualified up to level 6, and could give the shopper advice on pensions and investments as well as the tax implications of these. 5/5

Payment method: The first meeting would be free, after which a fee would be charged. 5/5

Guidance given: The adviser pointed out that before any investment decisions were made the couple would need to consider the cost of the move, which could be around £40,000 as well as the fact they may need nursing care, which would affect the investment choices they made. The couple sounded as if they needed a full financial check-up, as the shopper said she was concerned that they were paying unnecessary insurance for various household items. 5/5

 Knowledge: The adviser managed to help the shopper and also explained that inheritance tax liabilities would be covered in any meeting. 4/5
